Run a magical Café, protect the world's magic, and tell a story... one Latte and a couple of D6s at a time!

The Fount’s song had beckoned to her with notes of cinnamon and spice. Now, in that rundown Caffè still waiting to be restored, surrounded by her new coven and with magic tickling at her fingertips, finally, she felt like a true witch.

Pumpkin Spice is a Magically Cozy RPG illustrated by Simz and inspired by Kiki’s Delivery Service, Legends & Lattes, Coffee Talk, and the magical girl genre. It is a narrative first and character driven game with low prep and simple rules that follows the adventures of a young coven of witches tasked with protecting and growing a Fount of Magic… one Latte at a time!

Run a magical Café! Enjoy slice of life activities, stock up on supplies, invent new recipes, and interact with a variety of customers to figure out what magical beverages will help unlock your visitor’s arcane potential.

Protect the world’s magic! Like moths to a flame, many are drawn to the Fount, including those who would gorge on its magic. From mischievous spirits to ruthless business people and ancient deities twisted by pollution, if you hope to protect the Fount, you will need to grow as a witch and learn to create wondrous Spells!

Pumpkin Spice uses a special set of six-sided dice called Essence Dice to effortlessly introduce new elements into the story and resolve actions. The faces of these dice are mapped to specific Essences representing linked emotions, characters, ingredients, and events. Build a scene, activate your witches’ Traits to fill your dice pool, and roll, trying to match the Essences needed to accomplish your goals… no counting required!

That late morning, our visitor had the distant gaze and damp hair of someone who had spent too much time brooding under the rain, having left their umbrella back home.

They sat at a corner table far from the other smiling patrons holding steaming mugs, and rubbed their hands together while casting furtive glances around the room bathed in warm light.

Who could say what tapestry the Fount was weaving with its magical threads, pulling that person towards the Café.

I tossed the cloth aside and leaned forward on my elbows. Was it an opportunity they had not been brave enough to take? The bitterness of a discarded dream?

The Witch beside me at the counter elbowed me gently in the ribs and then continued tinkering with a black tea infusion, intense and with notes of citrus, just like her personality.

I could do this!

My heart thumping, I straightened the pointy hat upon my head and reached the visitor, stepping lightly.

“Welcome to the Café Arcana! What are you searching for?”

They stared at me, frowning, and shrugged. “I was just out for a stroll – I had no idea there was a place like this in the neighborhood. Is it new?”

“We’ve actually been around for a while.” A few centuries. “Rough week?”

Their shoulders relaxed, and they shook their head. “Normal, I guess. Same old thoughts running through my brain.”

LONELYNESS –  FATIGUE. I nodded to myself as I took notes.

“Don’t you have a menu?” The visitor craned their head, taking in the Café. More carefully, this time.

“Don’t worry.” I could barely hide my smile. “I know just what will do the trick.”
